A GOOD AND RARE LATE 18th CENTURY HUSSAR'S STYLE SABRE,
circa 1790, with 34in. pipe-backed single-edged steel blade with shallow fullers on each side, engraved both sides with scroll-work and a stand-of-arms, and a mounted hussar and bannered 'VIVAT HUSAR', brass hilt and guard with ridged back-strap, brass wire-bound leather grip, together with leather covered wooden scabbard with ornately decorated and engraved brass fittings, langet slots and steel-ended chape, no notching to the blade, a little staining to the blade, good, clear engraving, a little grazing to the exposed scabbard leather and a few shallow dents to the scabbard, 40 1/2in. overall
